WOLREC EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR IN ETHIOPIA FOR AFRICAN CONFERENCE ON CHILDCARE

The African Conference on Childcare is underway in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, under the theme 'Building Partnerships for Accelerating Action towards Quality and Inclusive Childcare in Africa.'


WOLREC Executive Director Maggie Kathewera Banda alongside WUSC Regional Director of the Action for Paid Childcare Sector Transformation (ACT) Project Ruth Muendo and WUSC Malawi Country Director Godfrey Mphande are attending the conference courtesy of the World University Service of Canada (#WUSC).

This afternoon, the WOLREC Executive Director will speak at the conference, highlighting the work WOLREC is doing in partnership with WUSC to advance childcare initiatives.

The conference, taking place from 18th to 20th June 2025, is being co-convened by the African Union Commission (AUC) in collaboration with the African Early Childhood Network (AfECN).


At the end of the conference, it is expected that political and financial commitment toward Child care development in Africa will be strengthened, there will be a renewed political and financial commitment toward Africa Child agenda 2024 and that partnership and multisectoral collaboration among relevant bodies will be enhanced.


It is further expected that there will be increased collaboration among government sectors, organizations and civil society, best Practices and Innovations will be shared, documentation and dissemination of best practices, lessons learned, and innovative models from country-level programs that have made progress in child care development.
