WHAT WORKS PROGRAMME 2

The Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) is supporting a consortium of three local women's rights organisations namely Women's Legal Resources Centre (WOLREC), Girls Empowerment Network (GENET) and Human Rights for Women and Girls with Disabilities (WAG) to work on the Pamodzi Kuthetsa Nkhanza (PKN) Program.


The program seeks to reduce the prevalence of four types of Intimate Partner Violence (IPV) which includes sexual, physical, economic, and psychological violence.

It is using Evidence based approaches in preventing Violence against women and girls and these include; SASA Together, Moyo Olemekezeka, Gender Transformative Curriculum, Survivor Support Fund, External Engagement Influencing (EEI) and the Media.


It is expected that at the end of the programme, the impact level change will be 'Reduced prevalence of IPV against women and progress towards the full realization of women's human rights.

Other expected outcomes include:
● Survivors of violence are more willing and able to report violence and seek help.
● People (including traditional and religious leaders, family members and in-laws and wider community members) in the programme's target areas are less tolerant of violence and more supportive of help-seeking from survivors of violence.
● Formal and informal violence front-line response services provide more accessible and accountable, survivor-centered support.
● Government of Malawi prioritizes VAWG prevention and improved response efforts based on robust evidence, practice-based knowledge and ethics.
