World University Service of Canada (WUSC), in partnership with the Women’s Legal Resources Centre (WOLREC), recently held a three-day training on Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI) in Lilongwe.
The training equipped staff working on the Action for Paid Childcare sector Transformation (ACT) project with the knowledge and tools to mainstream gender equality and social inclusion across all project components.
Running from April 2025 to December 2028, the ACT project seeks to expand access to paid childcare services and advance women’s economic empowerment through gender-responsive, community-led solutions.
ACT also promotes decent work, social protection, and greater recognition for childcare workers—the majority of whom are women.
This training marked a key milestone in the project’s implementation, laying a strong foundation for impactful change that will benefit women and children in Malawi.
Funded by Global Affairs Canada, the ACT project is being implemented in Lilongwe and Blantyre, with a focus on strengthening women’s economic participation and improving the quality and availability of childcare.
The project is also being implemented in Kenya, in collaboration with COVAW.
