A delegation from the World University Service of Canada (WUSC) and the Women’s Legal Resources Centre (WOLREC) yesterday paid a courtesy call on the Ministry of Gender, Community Development and Social Welfare to introduce their new initiative: the Action for Paid Childcare Transformation (ACT) project.
Led by WUSC Country Director Godfrey Mphande and WOLREC Executive Director Maggie Kathewera Banda, the team outlined the project's objectives, scope, and implementation timeline.

Officials from the Ministry of Gender provided valuable recommendations and shared insights to help align the project with national priorities. These inputs will be integrated into the project to maximize its relevance and impact.
Running from April 2025 to December 2028, the ACT project seeks to expand access to paid childcare services and advance women’s economic empowerment in Malawi.
This four-year, collaborative initiative promotes gender-transformative and locally-driven solutions aimed at elevating childcare work from a job of last resort to a valued and aspirational profession.
